 Intern Job DescriptionMarketing & Communications Intern provides general support to the Marketing & Communications department to help promote the Library’s brand. This is a unpaid internship . The work schedule is 10+ hours per week.

The Marketing & Communications Intern will be responsible for contributing to the development of compelling communications campaigns that effectively position the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library and its brand with its employees, customers and other stakeholders. This person will have the ability to produce clear, concise and persuasive writing for a variety of communication vehicles such as websites, social media, newsletters and collateral. Primary duties:- Write marketing copy for print and online needs, including but not limited to web content, stories of impact, emails, direct e-marketing pieces, advertising, and other collateral.- Assist with editing and proofing other written communications.- Research and interviewing subjects for stories- Crafting social media campaigns and messages- Identifying stories of impact - Writing blog posts- Posting approved messages to social media using scheduling tools- Monitoring and analyzing social media data- Writing and distributing targeted emails through distribution platform- Learn and adhere to company policies and procedures.- Work with the Marketing & Communications team on projects where needed 

Qualifications

Education and Experience Qualifications - Candidate must be enrolled in a college or university pursuing a Bachelors in Journalism, Marketing or Communications or completed a secondary education program in communication, journalism or marketing. - Proficiency with social media platforms, along with PC skills including MS Office Suite to include Microsoft Excel and Word. 

- Photography and photo editing experience is a plus. - Must be able to understand and communicate effectively with supervisors and fellow employees.- Self-starter who can work independently and is interested in developing skills in project management, media relations, social media marketing and other aspects of communications.
