Communications & Marketing Analyst

Summary:

This highly visible position with diverse responsibilities requires an experienced, innovative individual to join the growing team responsible for implementing internal and external communications strategies at Charlotte Water.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive campaign management of Charlotte Water capital and field operations project communications
  • Provide comprehensive campaign management of water and wastewater education programs
  • Develop multi-channel communications campaigns to include print, web, social media, marketing, public meetings, media relations, etc. 
  • Work with other communication staff to set and ensure effective and consistent design and content for Charlotte Water communications
  • Perform research, analysis and evaluation of all Charlotte Water communication efforts aligning Communication Team efforts strategically with best public relations practices
  • Develop and write creative stories, edit copy, ensure clear communication of the utility’s message across all channels, assist on special projects and communications events
  • Respond to media inquiries as a media spokesperson for Charlotte Water issues
  • Works under the direction of the Public Affairs Manager at Charlotte Water
  • Work nights and/or weekends on occasion as needed for public events or emergency incidents

Qualifications

Three to five years of experience in the fields of communications, public relations, environmental education, traditional or broadcast journalism Background in environmental education

  • Environmental policy
  • Non-profit/ government experience  
  •  

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Must have excellent written, verbal, and public speaking/presentation communication skills
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, SharePoint content management system and Adobe Creative Suite
    • Ability to work collaboratively and to build relationships
    • Ability to prioritize and handle many diverse projects and issues simultaneously
    • Demonstrated knowledge of social media best practices

    General Information:

    This position is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions.  Successful candidate must have a valid driver's license and ability to receive and maintain a City Driving Permit.
