Vidant Health is currently sourcing for a Social Media Specialist.  The Social Media Specialist is a relationship builder and versatile communicator who is excellence driven, focused on solutions and is passionate about high-quality outcomes.  The Social Media Specialist is a seasoned strategist, creative thinker and storyteller. Understanding the value of communications, this team member effectively tells the overarching Vidant Health story in a compelling way that drives engagement, awareness and change among different stakeholders. 


  • Generates high quality, engaging digital content that drives conversions through the creation of targeted, multi-media content from concept to execution for all platforms and audiences.
  • Translates complex ideas and topics for internal and external audiences in relatable ways.
  • Works in partnership and collaboration with leadership and team members to mine, gather, write, edit and strategically promote accurate and timely content to internal and external audiences; interacts regularly with team members, clinicians, researchers, providers and administrators.
  • Ability to develop content across traditional and digital platforms.
  • Plans and develops video content of all formats (words, videos, presentations/webinars, audio and images); oversees style, brand standards and appearance across online content channels.
  • Creates, manages, organizes and coordinates a social media content production calendar, increasing digital engagement.
  • Researches and understands audiences and uses this information to repurpose and target content accordingly across specific social media platforms (including but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest).
  • Serves as a reliable point-of-contact for social media content contributors and managers across Vidant Health.
  • Assists in generating and maintaining content on the external website and helps perform web content updates as needed; performs quality and brand standard checks on all content and keeps content timely and consistent.

  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Journalism,English, Communications or Public Relations
    • Three to four years of professionalexperience required. Current or recent (within last six months) experience in asocial media role
    • Proven results in developing andimplementing digital communications
    • Exemplary communication skills(written and verbal), with experience in editorial judgment, branded contentunderstanding, experience and technical skills
    • Working knowledge of marketdynamics, current marketing/communications principles, digital, social andtraditional formats required
    • Experience working with websitecontent management systems
    • Creative mindset to problem solvingand communication tactics. Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated abilityto work in and support a matrix relationship with dual (system and care site)accountability. Practical knowledge of AP style
