Public Information Specialist Senior - Content Manager

Summary:

This position is part of the Communications team and leads a program that is responsible for creating day-to-day content strategy, development and execution of impactful and informative content across various internal and external communications channels.  

This position is a strategic partner to the business and manages various editorial and production calendars. 


Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Delivers projects that meet objectives and leads all workflow through the team from idea to brief to creation to production to delivery, spanning diverse channels in a dynamic and fast paced culture
  • Development of a robust content strategy and editorial plan to meet the organizational objectives
  • Supervises the Airport’s website team (internet, intranet, extranet and mobile), digital, videography and photography projects
  • Assists in developing various features (forms)
  • Independent judgment and initiative is exercised within established guidelines
  • Performance evaluated on the basis of discussions and work products
  • Tasks require a strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules
  • Strong writer and creative storyteller
  • Ability to tell compelling stories across varied digital platforms
  • Drive content consistent with our brand, voice, style and tone across multiple platforms, digital and traditional
  • Develop, implement and supervise the editorial calendar; manages editorial strategy, plan and flow across all content hubs
  • Create a multi-channel communication strategy for video and identify efforts for video content development across all communications platforms
  • Manage web and video budgets
  • Supervise web and digital media specialists
  • Work closely with social media team to implement social media campaigns and content
  • Maintain a consistent look and feel throughout all platforms, working collaboratively with graphic design teams and agencies
  • Keep current with emerging content sharing platforms and emerging technologies
  • Assist with media relations
  • Assist with events
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Associate’s degree with three (3) years of relevant work experience; or a Bachelor’s degree with one year of relevant work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential job duties

 

Degree communications, public relations, journalism, broadcast, marketing or related field

  • Minimum of five years of experience working in content development, public relations, journalism, communications or closely-related field
  • Innovative thinker and leader
  • Proficient in technology, content creation, digital communications, social media
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Experience with AP style
  • Media relations experience
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to understand analytics and leverage insights to improve content and build audience
  • Knowledge of research methods and the application of them to web, public relations and communications  
  • Ability to prepare professional communications, videos and other content for dissemination to employees, the public and the media
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Photoshop, social media platforms and video production
  • Familiarity with an analytics platform such as Google Analytics   
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the public    
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and self-motivation in a rapidly changing work environment
  • Ability to manage several projects simultaneously

 

General Information:

Valid driver’s license and ability to qualify for and maintain a City driving permit.  Standard hours apply; however, occasionally non-traditional work hours are necessary to accomplish projects, and subject to emergency calls back to work.
