Position overview:
The Marketing, Communications and Events Specialist supports the strategic communications plan, digital marketing and signature events for the Belk College of Business, particularly the college’s undergraduate programs and the Childress Klein Center for Real Estate.
The marketing, communications and events specialist is a member of the college’s external relations team and reports to the director of external and alumni relations. The team member partners closely with the Niblock Student Center staff and the Childress Klein Center for Real Estate director and program manager, as well as other key leaders in the college.
Essential job duties:
Contributing to the overarching marketing and communication plans
Developing multi-channel content that publicizes and promotes undergraduate programs and Childress Klein Center for Real Estate programs and events.
Implementing a marketing strategy for undergraduate student recruitment and retention.
Managing content, editorial calendar and layout for the weekly undergraduate programs e-newsletter.
Supporting undergraduate program signature event planning, marketing, staffing and activation.
Collaborating with external relations team colleagues to devise content for social media highlighting undergraduate students, undergraduate alumni and Childress Klein Center for Real Estate research (including support for the Center’s annual report), faculty expertise and signature events.
Following and assessing undergraduate student marketing trends and creative opportunities to leverage these trends on college channels.
Developing written communications pieces to highlight undergraduate student success, resources, programs and experiential learning.
Developing and updating undergraduate programs’ marketing materials.
Developing and updating web content for undergraduate programs.
Researching and supporting the development of the Childress Klein Center for Real Estate annual report and branding materials.
Supporting Childress Klein Center for Real Estate signature events planning, marketing and day-of implementation.
Minimum education and experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in a closely related field and at least two years of experience that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities needed in the area of assignment.
Preferred experience, skills, training and education:
Experience in content marketing to attract, engage or retain a young professional audience preferred; experience writing content that attracts and retains higher education or nonprofit supporters preferred.
Experience with video production, editing or software and photography preferred.
Event management experience preferred.
Experience with content management systems preferred.
