The Managing Editor of Publications & Social Media will be responsible for all aspects of print and electronic publications at Providence Day School, while reporting to the Executive Director of Strategic Marketing & Communications. The Managing Editor will work to ensure that publications at Providence Day are of the highest quality and reflect Providence Day’s standing as a top-tier independent school.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Oversee the timely, error-free, cost-effective production of all print and electronic publications at Providence Day School. These include but need not be limited to Providence Day magazine, the Annual Report for donors, and e-newsletters produced for alumni, parents, grandparents, faculty and staff, and other constituents.
Working with Marketing & Communication staff, assume responsibility for all aspects of these print and e-publications, including writing, editing, design, photography, and print management, and ensure that these publications make a positive contribution to the School’s image, reflect its mission and core values, and help promote and establish an enduring brand for Providence Day School.
Plan and execute periodic reader surveys and/or focus groups to gather research on PDS’s publications and inform future decisions about content, design, frequency, and distribution channels. The Managing Editor will use input from readers to continually improve communications and ensure that the School’s publications are informative, engaging, and relevant to targeted readers.
Create and execute a comprehensive strategy to expand Providence Day School’s social media presence, ensuring that social media activities are fully integrated with other communications efforts at PDS, including traditional media, public relations, marketing, and advertising.
Drawing from other PDS departments and internal teams, oversee the planning, creation, and publication of content and campaigns across social media platforms, as well as the day-to-day management of the School’s social media channels, including, but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Flickr.
Offer social media guidance, recommendations and training to PDS staff and faculty, as appropriate; report on social media metrics and analysis regularly, including numbers, most popular posts and tweets, and interactions; and monitor and incorporate emerging trends and best practices in social media.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
