We are looking for an Internal Communications Intern to join our team. This paid internship is based in Charlotte, NC.

About the Internal Communications Intern Role

The Internal Communications Intern will play a key role in supporting Cardea and our clients by executing strategic internal communications initiatives. This includes crafting and delivering compelling copy, designing print and digital collateral that aligns with campaign objectives and ensuring seamless communication between the Cardea team, our partners and our clients. The role requires maintaining of detailed project timelines and reporting on deliverables, all while upholding the high standards of communication expected within our organization and by our clients.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a strong attention to detail. You should be comfortable navigating a fast-paced environment, collaborating across teams and learning on the go. We’re looking for someone who can build influence and develop relationships through effective communication and who understands the far-reaching impact of well-executed internal communications.

Overview

  • Paid internship position; 1099
  • Hybrid role with two to three offices days (office located in Charlotte, NC)

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Communication: Assist in the development and execution of internal communications strategies and tactics that drive client success and engagement.
  • Content Creation: Write, edit and design content for internal communications campaigns, ensuring all materials are clear, concise and aligned with client’s brand standards.
  • Project Management: Manage project plans, track progress and report on key deliverables to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Cardea team and our partners, actively supporting ongoing projects and offering ad hoc support as needed to achieve goals.
  • Executive Presence: Engage with Cardea, its clients and partners with a high level of professionalism, ensuring all written and verbal communication reflects the executive presence and tailored approach our clients expect of us.

Qualifications

Skills & Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong writing, editing and content creation abilities.
  • Proactive and creative approach to problem-solving with the ability to anticipate needs.
  • Familiarity with project management tools, techniques and concepts (proficiency with Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Project is preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva.
  • Demonstrates keen sense of professionalism and the ability to maintain executive presence in all interactions.
  • Passion for learning and continuous improvement; is willing to ask compelling questions and make suggestions.

Education & Experience

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree or holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations or similar field from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Experience working in public relations, communications, marketing or leadership is preferred.
  • PRSA or PRSSA membership or involvement is preferred.
