Job Overview
The Communications Manager will work closely with Coke Consolidated’s Director of External Communications to oversee the company’s external communications. This includes management of Coke Consolidated’s social media channels and website. The Communications Manager will be responsible for developing and executing strategic communications plans and materials to support business needs to promote Coke Consolidated.
The ideal candidate will be a skilled communicator with several years of experience in writing, media relations and communications campaigns. They will have the flexibility to communicate on a range of topics, from the 300+ brands bottled and sold by Coke Consolidated, to the company’s Purpose and sustainability efforts across our 14-state territory.
As a key member of the Corporate Communications team, this individual will interface directly with cross-functional teams and leaders. They will support both ongoing and special projects that advance team and Company priorities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver communication strategy that informs, engages and influences employees, customers, consumers and key stakeholders.
- Manage content calendar as well as creation and delivery of compelling, high-quality content across multiple platforms, working closely with the Director of External Communications to align with business partners, news and industry events to amplify brand messages.
- Draft and review communication materials including news releases, scripts, talking points, blog posts, briefings and other external-facing content.
- Assist with fulfilling media requests and earned media opportunities that support business objectives and coordinate outreach, leveraging key contacts and managing relationships to ensure media coverage.
- Monitor and share media coverage for relevant stories that mention the Company or pertinent issues.
- Manage social media communications and channels for Coke Consolidated including content production, posting, reputation management, metrics tracking, and optimization.
- Working with Director of External Communications, manage social media agency of record and development of paid and organic social campaigns, audience targeting strategy, collaboration with creative teams, copywriting, performance analytics, reporting and budget.
- Acts as a representative of the company, when needed, at various events.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with social and emerging media
- Creative copywriting, knowledge of AP Style, basic spelling/grammar and the ability to review others' writing
- Strong experience in media relations and ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of media contacts
- Ability to work independently, planning and organizing own workload while managing multiple priorities and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite to edit or create basic collateral materials for digital channels
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (4 years)
- Knowledge acquired through 5-7 years of experience in communications, social media, marketing, public relations, or similar field
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or related field
- APR preferred but not necessary
