Content Producer

Essential Functions:

Sources content, creates and distributes communications products that include written works, videos, photos, graphic design elements, social media and website content, and events.

Typical Tasks:

  • Proposes and produces written and/or multimedia content, including stories, photos, videos, social media posts, podcasts, etc., for publishing on the County’s information channels.
  • Sources content for and makes updates to the County’s website and Intranet sites. 
  • Assists with day-to-day CabCoTV station processes. 
  • Provides editorial review of materials.
  • Contributes to a team-based creative production process, including pre-production work, scriptwriting and content distribution. 
  • Supports and attends meetings and public events. 
  • Develops and delivers engaging presentations to individuals and groups virtually and in-person.
  • Compiles, analyzes and reports program data.
  • Provides crisis communication assistance, including performing work during emergency and severe weather situations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Demonstrated knowledge of communications skills, including employee engagement, marketing, event planning, public speaking, on-camera performance, video production, story structure, photography, graphic design, and information dissemination practices and procedures. Thorough knowledge of the structure and content of the English language, including the meaning and spelling of words, and rules of composition and grammar. Working knowledge of DSLR cameras, office equipment, computers and applicable software applications. General knowledge of the organization and functions of County government. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, communicate with others tactfully and courteously over the telephone and in person, prepare and maintain detailed files and records, plan work and work independently, work as part of a team, and manage multiple tasks and short deadlines. Proficiency in AP Style, Constant Contact, content management systems, Canva, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite, and social media. 


Education and Experience:

Requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field. Preference given to those with communications experience in the public sector. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.  

Physical Requirements:

This is normally sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects. Some work may require the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Work requires use of hands and fingers in repetitive motions. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities. The worker may be subject to adverse environmental conditions.

Special Requirements:

Possession of an appropriate driver’s license valid in the state of North Carolina. Position is a safety-sensitive position as defined by the Drug-Free Workplace Policy. Position is essential as defined by the Inclement Weather Plan. Position may require (some/occasional) evening/weekend work.
