Stakeholder Relations brings together teams responsible for engaging with the company’s critical stakeholders. Responsible for monitoring the current environment and developing comprehensive stakeholder strategies across various influencer groups, the team includes: Corporate Communications, Government Relations & Public Policy, Investor Relations, Strategic Philanthropy and Community Relations.

Reporting to the Atlantic Region Communications leader, this position will develop and execute external and internal regional communications initiatives in Virginia. He/she will focus on strategic communications objectives that drive awareness, rebuild trust and deliver thought leadership across key internal and external audiences.

The Atlantic Region Communications team drives all communications and social media programming throughout North Carolina, Virginia, Washington, DC, and Maryland to more than 40,000 team members. Its work is aligned with Corporate Communications’ strategic priorities – including proactive storytelling and reputation management.

This highly visible position will be located in Charlotte, North Carolina, or Richmond, Virginia, and does not offer relocation assistance. 

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Develop and maintain solid working relationships with key regional and local media to advance storytelling and best position executives and company
  • Create and coordinate communications; seek and secure opportunities to leverage external channels to proactively tell and amplify Wells Fargo’s regional story
  • Serve as the company’s media spokesperson in local markets
  • Research, write and edit a variety of communications including media releases, talking points, speeches, scripts and stories
  • Provide support for and lead local communications efforts for various business and CSR initiatives such as annual community campaigns, key sponsorships, special events and executive town hall meetings, as well as create communications materials for these initiatives
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients and partners, and manage reactive reputational issues with media
  • Lead local internal communications priorities including creating and posting stories to internal website, updating and maintaining regional fact sheets and other regional information, working on the development and production of executive videos, e-newsletters and executive communications, and posting executive engagements to the Corporate Communications intranet site
  • Track and measure results to ensure they are in line with intended outcomes and business objectives; this includes developing metrics and regional dashboards
  • Develop and execute social media strategies and tactics for the region, including posting on social media channels


Required Qualifications

  • 2+ years of communications experience in one or more of the following disciplines: public relations, media relations or corporate communications
Other Desired Qualifications
  • Experience working in a PR or communications agency handling multiple clients
  • Experience in media relations and issues management
  • Experience in developing and writing media materials, and proactively reaching out to media
  • Experience developing compelling content and leveraging multiple channels for creative storytelling
  • Experience working with diverse and ethnic media
  • Experience gathering data and analyzing communications and social media metrics
  • Experience building strong relationships and working across large organizations
Job Expectations
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
