Following the death of George Floyd, Ben & Jerry's boldly outlined steps to help eradicate systemic racism. The retail giant has long used its global platform to speak out about injustices and unfair treatment of marginalized communities, climate change and more. In 2016, Ben & Jerry's publicly announced its support of the Black Lives Matter movement leaning into what consumers have long been and continue to demand: social action. Nearly two-thirds of consumers want brands to take a stand on social issues, according to an Edelman report.

Join PRSA Charlotte, in partnership with the PRSA Southeast District, for an ice cream social to hear from Sean Greenwood, Ben & Jerry's director of public relations. Sean will provide the scoop on why the company supports issues they believe matter. He will discuss the importance of diversity and inclusion and will share the company's journey to create a more inclusive workplace and world. Since 1988, Greenwood has managed Ben & Jerry's flavorful corporate communication and promotion of its delicious product lines, which earn billions of impressions annually. He has used his sweet skills to develop countless public relations strategies and to promote Ben & Jerry's global initiatives including its climate change campaign "Save Our Swirled" and its equity and "EmpowerMint" movement, which took place largely in North Carolina, to address systemic racism.

So, grab a spoon and flash us your favorite flavor during an insightful and timely ice cream social about the intersection of brands and social action.
